Objectives

The Seminar curricular unit aims to familiarize the student with the ethical and socio-professional aspects that he will have to face during his professional career, provide a perspective on research in the area, in particular with regard to research carried out at UA, provide the students with technical skills in the area of data sciences in terms of research organization and written or oral presentation of research work.

It also intends to present, in a briefer way, subjects close to data science that are not addressed in the remaining units or real application cases, as well as contexts of R&D in companies in the areas of the course.

Students must attend seminars or other external events that are considered equivalent to one or several sessions.

Learning outcomes

Students get a comprehensive perspective of data science and of the advances in research and its application in industry, as well as core competencies for research, R&D, and general presentation and communication skills.

Grading

Grading will be based on an individual work consisting of the preparation of an article and its presentation to all the other students. The work will focus on one of the topics of the classes or another research topic in data science, to be chosen by the student and accepted by the professor responsible for the course.

Methodology

Classes will be organized in 2 hours per week in which the various themes of the seminar will be presented by one or several invited speakers, with the moderation of the teacher responsible for the course, with a theoretical part of presentation followed by discussion.
